15 Emissions Testing Locations in Metro Atlanta for Your Convenience
We are proud to be Georgia Clean Air Force Authorized Inspection Locations in the Metro Atlanta area. Air pollution is a serious public health and environmental issue to all of us in Metro Atlanta. A significant amount of pollution in Metro Atlanta produced by the vehicles we drive. We provide emissions testing in at 15 locations in Metro Atlanta because we all want clean air. Through your participation there have been significant improvements to Metro Atlanta’s air quality since the program began in 1996. Nearly two million polluting vehicles have been identified and repaired.
Emissions Testing Metro Atlanta Guidelines
If your vehicle is a 1990 – 2011 model year gasoline-powered car or light-duty truck (8,500 pounds gross vehicle weight rating or less) registered in Cherokee, Clayton, Cobb, Coweta, DeKalb, Douglas, Fayette, Forsyth, Fulton, Gwinnett, Henry, Paulding or Rockdale County, it must be emissions tested.
The three most recent model year vehicles are exempt from emissions testing each year. For registration in 2014, this includes all 2012 and newer model year vehicles.
Additionally, vehicles that are 25 model years or older are exempt from emissions testing. This includes 1989 or older model year vehicles.
If you are late renewing your registration for your birthday in 2013, your vehicle will be tested according to the 2014 rules.
Things to remember:
- A vehicle’s model year is the year the vehicle was built as designated by the vehicle manufacturer.
- Motorcycles, recreational vehicles (RVs) and motor homes do not require emissions testing for registration.
- Diesel vehicles do not require emissions testing for registration
